Ok, so first off, need to say that this could possibly be a great forum. It's nice to know that prospecting is becoming less secretive and there are more people willing to share information with like interested people around this state.
So, my little secret hideaway.
I signed up to another forum, similar to this, but it seems to be a bit of a ghost forum and waiting for a verification code takes a while, but anyway there was a subject on the Pieman, and people were talking about what it would be like to boat it, explore it and prospect its tributaries, it sparked my interest for two reasons, 1) i know there is a lot of untouched/chartered ground there and 2) because i have done exactly this for years.
I have dug to the bedrock in lovers falls, walked 10's of kilometers of the savage, dug hundreds of meters of gravels from the whyte and lucy's, sluiced bedrock gravels from the shingle bank, all have paid their expenses but none like my very own little piece of paradise.
The paradise river allbeit beautiful is a nightmare to navigate, our boats will enter the mouth no more than 100 meters. The entrance is blocked by two rather large semi submerged logs that you are able to power the boats over with the motor unhitched, but from there it gets no better so within no time, you are on foot.
We have set up a camp, complete with everything including supplies, tarps, crevicing tools, picks, shovels, wood and gas cookers, camp chairs, 12v batteries, water tank etc.etc basically all you need is a tent/swag some tucker and your sluice and your away.
The further you walk, the better it pays, if you are game to treck all the way to the paradise river/creek junction then prepare yourself for some nice pan outs.
There are fresh land slips that i am yet to sample, and signs on bing maps of what look to be ancient river channels in the area.
If anyone were interested i can give coordinates to the site.
Anyway, i will be around here i bit, its well and truly in my blood and i have been waiting to find a place like this to share experiences.
