hi all
im about to have a go at opening up a mine (geothermal) here in Tassie. Firstly i need an exploration licence. So i own it. But im on the way forward with it, as of today. I feel fantastic and excited. Its earth friendly to the hilt and a way of smashing the rat bags to do better.
We have 3 levels of prospectors in Tassie. People like us small scale prospectors. Big exploration company's and a special one. For special people.. like me!
Im targeting many things in my day and geothermal is one. I spoke to MRT today and its all systems go. i just need to pay the exploration licence bill ($1200 or so) and do a plan. Last year $2.5 million dollars was spent on exploration for geothermal in Tas. This is not pegged and the best chance in my opinion. Right under Trans Lines

HI, Its going to be world class eco exploration. so no digging at all. Zero damage, zero emissions, using nothing but earth friendly power generation with earth friendly minerals.
Im using the Seebeck effect on dissimilar metals to produce electricity given a tiny temperature differential either side. Using the earth as a stable source of heat (a blanket) and the swinging atmospheric temperature to power it. It works best with hot one side and cold the other. So frosty nights will work best. Its a cold engine too. i can get half a volt out of my hand and produce 650 watts using my fire place.
NASA and BMW are using the same technology today. Nasa for deep space flight BMW use it on the exhaust to recapture energy. Both hot one side, cold the other. i wont have the heat source / differential they have, but same principal.
Im simply sending digital temperature probes down existing drill holes to look for temperature anomalies. i hope to not do any excavation at all or have to cut any tracks in as the drill area is new. The Earths insulation level is about 20 meters down. so perfect
I know the area is hot from old newspaper and mines department reports from the miners complaining about the temp in the adit at very shallow depth. so it narrows my search area down considerably. to within 1 square km at least and the whole area is peppered with holes and shafts, so lots of opportunity.

Sounds interesting. I have been involved in the Tassie geothermal industry quite a bit. We had WIN news out filming us a drilling a couple of years back when I was installing a geothermal heating system in spreyton. Keep us updated.
